Soaring ACT rents undercut Greens call for caps

Rent controls in Canberra have not stopped lease costs in the national capital growing faster than the national average over the past four years, undercutting the Greens’ key demand to the Albanese government.
But a push by the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) government to boost density in existing suburbs could provide some relief for Canberrans, who pay some of the highest rents in the country.
