Reserve Bank of Australia governor Michele Bullock has refused to say if Treasurer Jim Chalmers phoned her last year to complain about the bank linking government spending to inflation pressures in the economy.
Bullock said on Tuesday the RBA board did not feel under “particular political pressure” from Chalmers and repeated the treasurer’s insistence that they had a “respectful” relationship.
