Jobless rate rises to 4.3pc, cements RBA rate cut

The unemployment rate has jumped to a 3½-year high of 4.3 per cent, confirming the jobs market is cooling and paving the way for the Reserve Bank of Australia to cut interest rates next month.

The jobless rate in June rose from 4.1 per cent in May, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on Thursday.
