Rising rents and high property prices are forcing young people to live at home for longer and leading some households to rent out spare rooms they previously used to work from home, the Reserve Bank of Australia says.

RBA chief economist Sarah Hunter said the number of people living in the average home had increased since May as things grew more expensive.
