VB is in and sushi is out despite prices easing

Ritchies boss Fred Harrison says that while inflation easing to a two-year low will help boost consumer confidence, people aren’t rushing back to buy French cheese for $80 a kilo just yet.

The hottest selling products at the country’s largest independent retailer over summer have been home branded commodities like flour, milk and sugar, Mr Harrison says, adding that punters have opted for the likes of VB or Tooheys over craft beer, and cut sandwiches over sushi.
