How retailers adapt to the crunch

Charles-Eddy Vitry says closing the doors on his record store Natural Selection in Melbourne’s Fitzroy for the last time on Christmas Eve was bittersweet.

Sales had plummeted by 80 per cent, while his landlord had asked for $43,000 in rent for the year ahead, up by more than 20 per cent from $34,000.
