While it’s perfectly rational to have a clear direction for our national goal of productivity enhancement, viz a revolution on tax, deregulation, energy supply and competition (“Nation seeks leaders who bleed for better living standards”), Chris Hayes reminds us that we might be wise to pause occasionally and think a little more deeply about what exactly we wish for as a community (“How to reclaim your brain in the attention age”).

The quoted example of the evolution of the 1980s independent video store to the 1990s Blockbuster chain to the ubiquitous 21st-century digital movie delivery model might indeed be instructive.
