Charlotte Chesnais has the sort of credentials every fashion designer dreams of. The 40-year-old landed her first proper job, aged 20, designing womenswear at Balenciaga under Nicolas Ghesquiere, who is credited with transforming the once-dusty fashion house into the global brand that it is today. She’s also designed ready-to-wear for APC, Kenzo, Maison Kitsune and Paco Rabanne.
Except it’s not fashion but jewellery design to which Chesnais has now devoted her career, and for which she has earned the most acclaim. Her namesake brand, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is loved by customers and fashion insiders the world over for its fluid, organic shapes that act as wearable sculptures.
