Dairy products face price spike as input costs hit ‘tipping point’

The cost of common dairy products could rise by double digits this year, according to cheese, yoghurt and flavoured milk maker Bega, as Australia’s peak retail body warned business input costs are at a tipping point.

Consumer inflation expectations are at the highest level in almost a decade, according to the latest ANZ consumer survey, heightening the risk of a structural shift in sentiment after a long period anchored at low levels.
