Australians’ living standards have not increased at all over the past year and are barely higher than they were 10 years ago, presenting a challenge for the Albanese government as it prepares to front voters angry about the cost of living.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday said the government was delivering on the economy after national accounts figures showed gross domestic product per person increased for the first time in two years in the December quarter, as quarterly growth hit a post-pandemic high of 0.6 per cent.
