Why Australians should ditch Europe this Christmas
Australians craving a white Christmas will get more bang for their buck in Canada and Japan than in the US or Europe this year after the Aussie dollar outperformed the Canadian dollar and yen, leaving travellers with more money in their pockets.
Although the local currency rose just 0.5 per cent against its Canadian peer and a little over 2 per cent against the yen in 2024, it has been an otherwise tough year for the Australian dollar against most other major currencies and for reasons that have little to do with Australia.
