Well, it is safe to say that risk is puking right now on the back of extreme policy uncertainty. The bellwether S&P500 index has slumped 2.2 per cent in 2025 and by 5.7 per cent over the last month alone. The technology-focused Nasdaq index has plunged by 6.3 per cent and 8.7 per cent over the same period.

Even with President Donald Trump sensationally committing the US government to buy bitcoin, which he “loves”, it has dropped 16 per cent from its recent peak. And it is almost perfectly correlated with the equity price action. In fact, crypto is just a highly leveraged equity play.
