Luci Ellis is taking a break from social media, alcohol, chocolate and even swearing. Here’s why.

Three months from now, Westpac chief economist Luci Ellis will be better rested, fitter and more present. Well, that’s the plan at least.

The former assistant governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia embarked on a 90-day challenge at the beginning of February, during which she’s giving up alcohol, junk food, social media (including WhatsApp and YouTube) and swearing. Smoking and vaping are also out, along with video games, movies and music that feature violence or swearing.
