The CEO who’s also a seriously elite World Masters sprinter

He’s 42 and took up sprinting only recently, but Hyper Capital’s Gabriel Jakob recently clocked 6.70 seconds over 60 metres. He answers our Time Out Q&A.

Why sprinting?
I get asked that all the time. In 2021 on a business retreat my associates and I were talking about how fast we thought we could sprint 100 metres. Very soon we were putting our assumptions to the test by running a race. Having been an active, athletic person my whole life, I was struck by how technical, difficult and demanding a 100-metre sprint was. I’m always open to a challenge: when I returned to Sydney the following day, I took up sprinting.
