Welcome to ‘New Recruits’ – a weekly wrap of all the major player moves in local SA footy this pre-season.
Each week leading into season 2023 The Messenger will wrap the big movements across the state, including all country and suburban competitions.
We have seen more big moves recently, with veteran local names and rising stars joining new outfits.
Here are the movements from the past two weeks.
Adelaide FOOTY LEAGUE
Josh Fisher (Flinders Uni)

Nathan Fisher (Ironbank Cherry Gardens to Flinders Uni)
Shaun Brown (Christies Beach to Flinders Uni)
Flinders Uni has remained as one of the busiest clubs in the Adelaide Footy League, adding three more players to its troops for season 2023.
Brothers Josh and Nathan Fisher have arrived at the club, with Nathan coming off of a strong season through the middle of the park with Ironbank Cherry Gardens.
Versatile Para Hills player Lathanuel Rigney has switched guernsey, joining division three club Gaza in a major move for the Eagles.
GREAT SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Justin Watson (Lucindale to Goolwa/Port Elliot)
Lucindale star and premiership player Justin Watson marks yet another significant move for Goolwa/Port Elliot in the 2023 pre-season.
The gun utility is coming off of another strong season for the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara FL club, kicking five goals and tallying three best player performances in 15 games, resulting in yet another premiership medal.
Watson joins another big local name in former Goodwood star Reece Slape at the Magpies.
HILLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE

NORTHERN AREAS FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
Cody Woolford (Min Man Eagles to BMW)
Ollie Smart (Victoria to BMW)
Cody Woolford has joined Booleroo Melrose Wilmington after a consistent tenure with the Min Man Eagles in the North Eastern Football League.
The star midfielder who can also push up the ground and boot goals has been a regular country championships player and was one of the best players for his club yet again last season.
He kicked 26 goals and had seven best player mentions in 16 games last season and should be a significant boost for BMW.
PORT LINCOLN FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Bryson Keeley (Mallala to Marble Range)
Tom Kilby (Albury to Boston)
Zane Montgomerie (Elliston Districts to Lincoln South)
Zane Montgomerie has arrived at Lincoln South after a spectacular year with Elliston Districts in the Great Flinders Football League.
The talented backman was a standout in the SA Country Championships, eventually making the SA Country side which defeated WA.
Montgomerie was also a standout for his club, tallying 14 best player appearances in 14 games, including in a losing grand final against United Yeelanna.
SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Anthony Dempsey (Goodwood to Port Noarlunga)
Port Noarlunga has continued its strong pre-season with the signing of former Goodwood Saints man Anthony Dempsey.
The talented midfielder/forward played most of last season in the reserves but has previous experience as a reliable division one player.
Dempsey was also a premiership player at the Saints.
