Another week of pre-season is through in local SA footy and a number of former SANFL players and big local names have joined new local clubs. See every player move so far.

Welcome to ‘New Recruits’ – a weekly wrap of all the major player moves in local SA footy this pre-season.

Each week leading into the 2023 season The Messenger will wrap the big movements across the state, including all country and suburban competitions.

We have seen multiple SANFL players join local clubs, with two major Adelaide Footy League clubs picking up multiple players.

Here are the movements from the last week.

ADELAIDE FOOTY LEAGUE

Former Sydney Swans player and Sturt 100-gamer Abe Davis has joined Nathan Grima’s Glenunga side after a strong season in the SANFL.

The gun forward booted 36 majors in 17 league games through 2o22 and should boost the Rams’ attacking options significantly.

Goodwood has also been busy in division one, recruiting Connor Fairlie and Jade Cleeland from West Adelaide and promising PNU prospect Lachy Matthias, who is expected to play for Glenelg in the SANFL through parts of next season.

The signing of Cleeland had Saints coach Luke Donaldson particularly excited, with the former Blood able to play tall up front or at the back.

Jack McAuley has returned home to Keith after spending time at Sacred Heart College and with the Glenelg U18s and reserves.

He played 13 games in the SANFL U18s and one reserves game for the Bays, averaging 11 disposals and kicking three goals in 13 games.

McAuley adds to a lengthy list of Keith recruits this pre-season.
