An Adelaide Footy League club has landed a big fish ahead of the 2025 season as it attempts to continue its move up the divisions.
Former Glenelg captain and premiership player Andrew Bradley has signed with division three outfit Westminster Old Scholars after time with Kybybolite in 2024.
Bradley, a Westminster College old scholar, played 200 games with Glenelg as a skilled defender and midfielder and won a premiership and two best and fairests before retiring and winning a D1 flag at Prince Alfred OC in 2023.
He then moved back to his hometown club Kybybolite alongside Jack Trengove for season 2024 and fell agonisingly short of breaking the Tigers’ premiership drought.
“It was good fun to get back down to where I grew up and play at Kyby,” Bradley said of his year with the KNTFL club.
“As fun as it was though, it probably wasn’t sustainable for my wife and I to continue travelling there each week with two young kids.
“I went to school at Westminster and finished up in 2009 but I still have some connections at the club.
“I was always keen to play there at some point.”
Bradley’s move comes at a perfect time for the Dragons, who earned promotion to division three by making last season’s D4 grand final, eventually falling to a red-hot Kilburn in the big dance.
Bradley will join a young and talented side which was headlined by star ruck Kurtis Phillips and tough midfielder Harry Lienert last season.
“It’s a pretty young, school-based group and there has been high energy through the pre-season so far,” he said.
“I’ll bring whatever is needed on the field and if they need any help from a coaching point of view.
“We’ve only been back in training now for a few weeks so there’s a bit to figure out still.
“I’m feeling really good and have been through two full years of local footy without any injuries so I’m feeling in shape and ready to go.”
