A Nambour mum-of-three has been released on probation for making child exploitation material via text messages where she fantasised about sexually abusing his children.

Donna Michelle Morgan, 59, messaged a man on WhatsApp between May 11 and May 27, 2021.

Maroochydore District Court heard the pair exchanged at least 4370 messages some of which were general conversation but others were sexting.

Crown prosecutor Joana Dias said Morgan and the man had several sexually explicit conversations involving children and about her engaging in sex acts with the man’s 10-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter.

The acts didn’t actually occur between Morgan and the children, but the messages constituted a form of child exploitation material.

Defence solicitor Ambyr Cousen said her client had raised three children who she was very close with and had been employed in office jobs throughout her life.

Ms Cousen said Morgan had trauma in her formative years including a lack of a loving parent and sexual abuse at the age of nine.

“This caused her to develop a depressive type personality disorder with dependant and avoidant personality traits and set the groundwork for her to become a victim of controlling and manipulating partners,” Ms Cousen told the court.

“Ms Morgan accepts the messages are horrific in nature.

“Ms Morgan is devastated by her actions, she’s embarrassed and remorseful.”

Ms Cousen said she had never met the man and it was him who instigated the conversations about children and Morgan did try to revert the conversation back to herself on occasions.

Judge Glen Cash said to say the offending was “abhorrent” would be an understatement.

“It’s difficult for me to understand how anyone could write that kind of thing,” Judge Cash said.

Morgan was given probation for 12 months with no conviction recorded.
