Brutal Noosa fight caught on camera

A Bli Bli carpenter will spend Christmas behind bars after he pleaded guilty to assaulting two men, including a “cowardly” stomp on the head that left his victim unconscious.

Maroochydore District Court heard Jordan Troy Savage was 23 when he was out drinking at Noosa Heads with a group of friends on December 29, 2021.

Crown prosecutor Madalyn Olivero said it was 2am on December 30 when Savage’s friend group yelled towards another group on the opposite side of the road at the Hastings St roundabout.

Ms Olivero said a fight broke out between the two groups and the 29-year-old victim was knocked to the floor by someone.

Savage then repeatedly punched the victim to the head and face before stomping on his head with his foot rendering him unconscious.

Ms Olivero said Savage stomped on his head a further two times while he was unconscious on the ground.

The men continued to fight for a period of time before Savage left only to return and hung around in a “menacing” way before leaving.

The victim was taken to hospital and suffered a nasal bone fracture, superficial facial injuries, a chipped tooth and concussion.

Just 19 days earlier on December 10, Savage was out for dinner and drinks at Noosa Heads when he targeted a 32-year-old man he didn’t know.

Savage first yelled at the victim and punched him to the face before Savage’s friends continued assaulting the man with kicks to the head, jaw and neck.

This victim suffered pain to his jaw, a chipped tooth and cuts, requiring eight sutures.

Defence barrister Nathan Turner said thankfully the injuries suffered by the two victims were not more serious.

Mr Turner said Savage was lost at the time of the offending after his long-term relationship ended and he started to abuse alcohol.

Mr Turner said his client had shown a commitment to rehabilitation since the offending by abstaining from alcohol, undergoing counselling and writing letters of apology.

“He has replaced what was a negative culture of alcohol misuse with healthy eating and exercise,” Mr Turner said.

“He’s shown a high degree of remorse and insight.”

Savage pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of assault occasioning bodily harm while in company.

Members of his family were sobbing as Judge Glen Cash handed down the punishment.

Judge Cash described the offending as “dangerous” and “cowardly” and sentenced Savage to 15 months’ prison suspended after serving four months for an operational period of 15 months.
