A woman is recovering from serious injuries following an attack at a well-known beach and, in a separate incident, police are also investigating another woman being chased by a stranger.

Police are investigating an attack on a woman walking on the beach and a separate incident of a man acting suspiciously in two Sunshine Coast suburbs.

A woman was walking on Peregian Beach on Tuesday about 9.30am, near access 53, when she noticed a man walking his dog on the beach, which is not allowed at that beach.

Coolum Police Acting Sergeant Justin Zuanetti said the woman, in her 60s, told the man it was a “dog free” beach and she threw a stick towards the dog.

The police officer said the man “tackled” the woman, similar to a “rugby style” tackle and then fled.

The man was described as in his early 20s with a solid build, of average height and wearing a light coloured shirt and dark shorts.

CCTV footage at a nearby property filmed a man police would like to speak to in regards to the incident.

It is understood the woman received injuries to her feet, broken ribs, a lacerated liver and neck injuries.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers were also investigating a separate incident of a man acting suspiciously in Yaroomba.

It is not suggested the same man was involved in the other incident.

She said an initial report suggested a man was acting in a suspicious way around two women on a walkway near Yinneburra St about 5.50pm yesterday, April 9.

A social media post of the Yaroomba incident claimed a woman was “in complete fear for her life” after she told another woman a man she did not know was chasing her.

The social media post claims the pair got into one of the women’s cars and when the man saw the pair together, he “swerved” onto a different path.

The police spokeswoman said anyone with CCTV or information of either incident should contact officers via Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
