Ruby's Diner
Modern Australian$$
You don't have to be inked up to be welcome at this fifties-style cafe diner, but it might just help you fit in. The baristas are tattoo'd, there's a True Love motif pigmented on the wall and the La Marzocco is emblazoned with graffiti stickers. Grab one of Ed Devlin's skilfully made, earthy/sweet Single O Ruby's Diner blend flat whites ($3.50), a dingo (3/4 latte), or a changing single origin or specialty brew (Aeropress, cold drip or syphon). The tight kitchen grooves to a reggae beat, serving up well-wielded breakfasts such as poached eggs with quinoa, shaved cucumber and chilli jam.
