The Moor's Head
Middle Eastern$$
Joseph Abboud (Rumi) makes unique pizza. There are two types: pide (open, chewy textured dough shaped like a canoe) and manoushe (thin, round and crisp). They're cutely named; Omar Sharif is a pretty-looking pide with a rich three-cheese base, sprinkled with black nigella seeds, torn mint and tart pickled-pink onion pieces. A Beiruti manoushe has a tasty zaatar base with slices of fresh tomato, olives and daubs of silken labna. They're sized to satisfy one hungry person, but you could share one between two with a salad (cabbage and caraway) and dessert (mini ricotta 'pastie' drizzled with honey). It's a loud, industrially sparse space, and a pizza renaissance.
