Spout
Middle Eastern$$
Locals queue out the door of Spout on a Sunday morning, and not just because there’s barely anything open on Glen Eira Road. It’s a great little local with a warm fitout of exposed brick and reclaimed timber. Every day Allpress coffee is expertly extracted by deft baristas, and there’s a ranging menu with a Levantine lilt. All-day brekkies include shakshuka - poached eggs in spicy tomato sauce with haloumi and spring onions. Spout Benedict, where smoked salmon replaces ham and a pinch of harissa is thrown in for a spice hit, is also a worthy favourite. Top-shelf shawarmas and pides join other mains at lunch.
