Du Fermier
French$$$
Annie Smithers' Du Fermier is a return to simplicity: beautifully honest food, French wines and artful homewares in a casual cafe environment. The blackboard wall heralds seasonal, local produce; brunch on a luxurious croque-monsieur with local free-range ham, molten cheese and lashings of dijon, or house-made sourdough with Annie's strawberry jam. Other smashing dishes might include herb omelette with local truffle; delicate pan-fried mulloway with haricot beans, leek and saffron jus; and superb handmade duck sausages with decadent swirls of pomme puree. Weekend dinners burst the budget.
