Looks can be deceiving. The soothing Scandi interiors and shady outdoor deck with farm animals next door add up to cute country cafe. But new owners Woody Chet and Chanthida Penh who ran Cambodian restaurant Amok in Melbourne insert sour, fragrant and spicy dishes among the typical cafe fare.
For breakfast choose between eggs your own way on sourdough or lort cha, the sweet-salty Khmer rice drop noodles. DIY bao are filled with beef ribs and sticky chilli sauce. Dinner is a full-tilt dive into Cambodia. A brioche roll stuffed with whole prawn, gherkin and spreadable cocoa-tinged bacon is a flavour assault.
Chicken ribs are alive with Kampot black pepper, and the tingle of sour yellow curry finds harmony in tiger prawns and char-grilled pineapple. Day or night, there’s plenty to discover.
