This smart bar and bistro’s minimal brick-and-tile dining room puts the focus on wine; bottles from vineyards within a 50-kilometre radius line the walls, and the venue’s name stems from the year vines were first planted nearby.

The dishes leaving the kitchen are mostly Italian comfort food. Lightly toasted sourdough is served with balsamic and good oil, great for pairing with antipasti such as juicy meatballs in bright tomato sugo.

House-made pasta is a strength, perhaps smooth spheres of gnocchi with a rich four-cheese sauce dusted with grated nutmeg. The Sicilian seafood stew is a hearty array of mussels, prawns and flathead in chilli broth.

For an old-school finish, dive into a slab of no-bake passionfruit cheesecake.
