Metaxi Mas
Greek$$
What this family-run sandwich bar-cum-cafe lacks in Cleveland Street cred it more than makes up for in honest grub. Greek bruschetta is oxymoronic but overflowing with feta, olives and anchovies. The Metaxi Mas ('between us') mezze plate for two makes a lazy but satisfying lunch. Mounds of sun-dried tomatoes, feta, dolmades, fried haloumi, zucchini, olives, dips and eggplant are lovingly scooped up with bottomless baskets of warm pita bread. Add a couple of grilled lamb or chicken skewers for a protein hit. Don't be surprised if the owner pops out to check on things, but avoid finishing the platter if you can - sticky baklava and cookies are waiting. Even yaya would approve.
