True South
South American$$$
Since chef Mauro Callegari decided to stay true to his Argentinian roots, diners have flocked to True South. Dishes are generous and to be shared so it's easier to keep in budget than you might think. Crisp breadcrumbed discs of black pudding topped with smoked tomato is a winner, tasty chorizo sandwiches a steal and Callegari's take on locro, a flavoursome pork, white corn and pumpkin stew, could feed an army. For such a meaty cuisine, vegetable dishes such as pumpkin with smoked yoghurt, pinenuts and mint, and heirloom carrots with chilli and maple syrup, are a surprising highlight.
