NTFL 2022-23: Watch PINT vs Tiwi Bombers Round 11 livestream

Tiwi Bombers have maintained their undefeated record against PINT as they held on to a draw. WATCH THE REPLAY.

Replay: NTFL Round 11 - PINT v Tiwi Bombers

Tiwi remain undefeated against PINT after their pace and tackle pressure saw them hold on for a draw at DXC Arena.

The Greenants have become a force to be reckoned at their home ground, but the pace of bottom side Tiwi was enough to force an 8.7 (55) to 8.7 (55) draw.

Tiwi started the better and more assured side eager to prove that despite their record in recent years they can still mix it with their competition.

Usual back man Michael Dunn was pushed up forward to mark his 200th game and was quick to make an impression on the match scoring the opener.

The Bombers were quick to punish any PINT fumble racing into every contest and applying the tackle pressure as often as they could.

And it was the speed of Tiwi which threw the usually composed Greenants, a side who have mixed it with the top sides recently, off their game.

But PINT for their part probably had the ascendency in the midfield as the game wore on, and were the side who were up on the clearances.

Elliott Chalmers and Damian McMahon made sure the ball got down to their forwards, but the Greenants goal kickers weren’t able to take advantage of those chances.

Ben Rioli, showing his experience, David Kruse and Paddy Heenan were constantly busy in the backline, while a courageous Brayden Rioli seemed to throw himself into every contest.

PINT gained some parity in the second quarter as their forwards finally managed to gather some majors on the back of their midifield ascendency.

However, Tiwi didn’t drop their heads as PINT came back and as the match shifted into the third quarter the Bombers were back on top.

Shannon Rioli kicked one in the opening minute, Adam Tipungwuti showed his skills and off the ground grubber from Gary Puruntatameri saw Tiwi with their noses in front.

PINT’s x-factor man Silver Yousif made up for some earlier turnovers to gift his side a comeback goal while on the run.

But little by little PINT came back into the contest with Jett Trotter and Patrick Doyle among the multiple goal scorers.

In those dying minutes it looked almost inevitable PINT would grab defeat from the jaws of victory, but as the scores levelled PINT kicked a set shot out on the full.

Tiwi also had their chances with both Dunn and Shannon Rioli missing chances throughout the match, and it seemed almost destined the sides would play to the draw they did.

However, the mood between the two camps at the close of the game couldn’t have been more different with PINT coach Shannon Motlop disappointed at the result.

“It’s disappointing. Our boys need to do a bit of work,” Motlop said.

“We come out some weeks and play great footy and then we a side like Tiwi who have a lot of leg speed and it forces our boys to change their game. We didn’t play the style we would want to.

“But that said it’s better than last time we played Tiwi, and in the end we shouldn’t have got a draw so we can be happy with that.”

Meanwhile, Tiwi coach Brenton Toy was happy with the obvious progress his side had made to come away with a draw.

“This result means we’re undefeated against PINT this year, so we will take that one,” Toy said.

“We had an interrupted preparation and some late changes, but for us considering where we have been knowing we’re competitive and can win now makes a big difference.

“Getting a good start was important, and we put a big focus on our third quarter which has been letting us down.

“The main thing for us though was mentality and keeping things positive, it’s easy to be positive when you’re up, but keeping positive when you’re challenged is something we’ve focused on.”

Livestream Preview

A lively PINT outfit will be out for revenge when they host the Tiwi Bombers in Round 11.

And the NT News will be there to livestream the game exclusively for you from 3pm, Saturday.

PINT have proven they belong in the premier league despite their freshness to the competition.

They may only have three wins from nine games, but they’ve been a tough side in each of their outings putting even top sides Southern Districts and Waratah to the test in losing efforts.

And nowhere have they been tougher to beat than their home ground at DXC Arena, the site of their latest victory against the Palmerston Magpies.

However, bottom side Tiwi Bombers are one of the sides to get the better of the Greenants beating them at their home base of Wurrumiyanga Oval.

That result also ended a 988 day losing streak, and another win in their collection is something the Bombers would very much enjoy.

But they would need all their players on song to achieve that end for a second time this season.

If you are attempting to cast the livestream or replay to a television, the best result can be achieved by either using a laptop/computer or a mobile phone.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to livestream Men’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
