An explosive seven-goal final term has seen PINT secure their second win of the season against a struggling Wanderers.
PINT were eager to bounce back from their loss to Tiwi at Wurrumiyanga Oval in Round 5, and a return home to DXC Arena gave them the perfect opportunity to do so.
Against Wanderers, another side who are struggling despite their talented list, the Greenants had their chance.
And the league’s newest team went toe to toe with the foundation club until blowing the game wide open in a seven goal final term to seal the match 13.5 (83) to 5.6 (36).
It was the first time PINT head coach Shannon Motlop had come up against his former club, and his new squad were up for the challenge from the first centre bounce.
There was hardly anything to separate the two sides for the majority of the match, except PINT were better at taking their chances when they came.
Kyle Winter-Irving and former Gold Coast Sun player Jacob Dawson were key in moving the ball down to their men in front.
Each time they had the opportunity the Greenants took their chances, and with main forward target Jett Trotter on song in front of the posts the scoreboard continued to tick in their favour.
Speed of possession from 2019-20 Nichols Medal winner Beau O’Connell saw the ball back jet towards the Wanderers forward line.
Dane McFarlane was another from the Muk Muks midfield with the ability to make something out of nothing, and it was those key possession getters who propelled the side back into the contest.
Liam Patrick broke the scoring deadlock in the third quarter and with subsequent goals going the way of Nathan Arbon and Motlop it looked like Wanderers were back in the contest.
Mitchel Taylor and Brodie Newman kept the defensive end intact, as they’ve become known for, and they minimised the Greenants assault.
However, fortunes twisted back in PINT’s favour in the final term as the league’s newest side blew the game wide open, as they did in their Round 3 victory over St Mary’s.
Silver Yousif showed off his speed, while Elliott Chalmers and Alex Harvey kept the possessions ticking towards their side.
And as Wanderers fell away, Trotter was impossible to stop in front of goal finding his sixth goal as the final siren blew ensuring PINT had their second win of the year.
“We were very disappointed in our performance last week, so we were pumped coming into this one knowing Wanderers are a tough side,” Trotter said
“We sought out to grind it out and knew we would have to put in a four quarter performance, and we’re super proud of what we managed to achieve out there.
“When we come here (DXC Arena) we want to make sure we put on a good performance for our supporters, we want to make it a bit of a fortress and not lose many games here.”

Livestream Preview
An intense match is in store with both Wanderers and PINT hunting down a win in Round 6 at DXC Arena.
And the NT News will be there to livestream the game exclusively for you from 7pm, Saturday.
PINT get their chance to host at DXC Arena to bring a blockbuster Saturday of NTFL footy to an end, and will be hoping to secure their second win of the season.
The Greenants have adapted well to Premier League in their first season proving they’re able to mix it with the best.
And despite a loss to Tiwi on the island last week, they are still more than in the fight for a finals berth.
Meanwhile, Wanderers have struggled despite the undoubted talent they possess across their squad.
The Muk Muks only have one win to their name so far, albeit against the reigning premiers, and will be targeting this match as a chance to change their fortunes.
But to do so they need their forward line of Ed Simpson, Darren Shillabeer and Steven Motlop to fire and prove they’re a group of goal kickers to fear.
If you are attempting to cast the livestream or replay to a television, the best result can be achieved by either using a laptop/computer or a mobile phone.
