In a huge slice of NTFL history, a tenacious PINT had all the answers and was rewarded with their first ever NTFL Premier Grade victory when a second half resurgence proved too much for St Marys.
Trailing by two points at half time, the Greenants rallied after the long break and ran out 13.5 (83) to 7.11 (53) victors.
In an energetic opening by both sides, a goal by Saints forward Jackson Calder inside the first minute was countered for PINT by Silver Yousif and then Brayden Taylor.
And for good measure, Mitch Musgrove evened the ledger when he slotted a six-pointer for the green team.
Both defences were on top and scoring was hard to come by in the second until Calder, who was the beneficiary of a PINT indiscretion, booted the first of the term after 10-minutes.
The effervescent Yousif found himself at the drop of the ball and kicked truly, but a highlight was a running snap by PINT small forward Andrew Ciavarella that got the lead back to the home side.
However, a 50m penalty on the siren took Harrison Ling to the goal line and Saints went the long break with a two-point lead.
PINT opened the third full of running and dominated possession but couldn’t break the Saints defensive unit lead by Luke Oborn and Grant Gallus.
But it was Yousif again who settled the Ants when he goaled from a relayed freekick and when Jett Trotter and Kyle Winter-Irving added two more each in quick succession.
The Ants finally had some scoreboard ascendency.
Isaiah Baldock opened the scoring for Saints with a goal early in the last, but Trotter equalised and when Ciavarella snapped truly, the army of PINT supporters sensed a special occasion was about to eventuate.

LIVESTREAM PREVIEW
PINT will host their first ever Men’s Premier League match when they take on St Mary’s at DXC Arena in what is shaping up to be a telling encounter.
And the NT News will be there to livestream the game exclusively for you from 7pm on Saturday.
St Mary’s bounced back in fine form against Tiwi Bombers posting over 200 points to see of their rivals.
Captain Nate Paredes and Dylan Landt were among the standouts racking up over 40 possessions each while goal scoring ace Jackson Calder scored six goals.
They now head to DXC Arena to face PINT who are still on the hunt for their first win at the top level.
The Greenants however don’t seem that far away from breaking their duck running Nightcliff close and coming away a little hard done with a draw against Palmerston.
They have the strength and talent to play at this level and it’s only a matter of time until they get the win.
If you are attempting to cast the livestream or replay to a television, the best result can be achieved by either using a laptop/computer or a mobile phone.
The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to livestream Men’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
