Eastland’s Town Square precinct is set for a refresh with a bowling alley, mini golf and a pilates studio to join its mix of restaurants and cafes.
Maroondah Leader can reveal Strike Bowling will open its sixth Melbourne alley in the square, taking space previously used by David Jones near the REALM library.
Joining them is quirky mini golf course Holey Moley, who are opening only their second Melbourne course outside of the CBD.
Both brands are owned by entertainment and attractions company Funlab and a liquor license application was put on display at the site last week.
David Jones announced it was downsizing its Eastland store last year and closed off its top level in May, which was accessible from the square.
Eastland general manager Greg Balmforth told Maroondah Leader the space was being reconfigured for Strike and another yet-to-be announced tenant.
Strike’s arrival in Ringwood is a win for outer east bowling fans after the longstanding Zone Bowling alley closed at Westfield Knox in June.
Elsewhere, Eastland’s MyHealth medical centre and Reformation Pilates are also moving into empty tenancies in the square.
The pilates studio will be behind Town Square’s ‘The Shard’ entrance next to Abacus Cafe, while the medical centre will re-open next to Lavezzi Gelateria.

The square’s revamp comes as its glitzy undercover outdoor dining works near completion.
Two “stylish mirrored canopies” are being installed on each side of the square to protect diners from the elements at Eastland’s cafes and restaurants.
They will include glass screening and be filled with integrated heating and lighting.
Mr Balmforth said the works were on track to be finished by the end of the month.
Funlab declined to comment on the two attractions’ arrival at Eastland.
