EASTLAND’s owners say there are no leakage problems at the shopping centre’s glittering Town Square entrance as maintenance works continue.
Wet and stormy weather caused raindrops to leak through the ceiling and fall near elevators around The Shard on May 10.
The Shard connects visitors from the Ringwood Town Square to shops below and has been surrounded by fencing since January.
The works, which were expected to be completed by April, have had no impact on shoppers.
Eastland general manager Greg Balmforth said the rain event affected “a small area in the final section of The Shard for which these maintenance works have not yet been completed.”
He said there were no structural issues with The Shard and the works were “on track” to be completed by ”mid-2018”.
“These retiling and resealing works are part of regular works across Eastland to address minor upgrades and maintenance, and are not related to any significant structural issues with The Shard,” he said.
