Sam Newman has hit back at Chrissie Swan for labelling him the worst guest she’s interviewed.
The former The Footy Show co-host and polarising podcaster said he had done nothing wrong.
“She’s a two bit troll,’’ Newman said.
“The one time in my life I’m completely innocent and she goes me. She’s untalented, unworthy, pompous and arrogant.”
Newman added that she had been out to get him when he appeared on Chrissie, Sam and Browny, and that she walked out.
“I was asked to come in, if you’re going to invite a guest, have the courtesy and the class to not have a predisposition to whom you’re speaking to in the first place,’’ he said.
“What a coward.”
In a chat about difficult interviews on her Nova radio show on Monday afternoon, Swan said Newman made her feel like she was being attacked.
“He was hands down the worst experience I’ve had in the media,’’ Swan said.
“It was absolutely the worst by far. By far.”
Swan’s co-host, Jack Charles, a former producer on the breakfast show, said: “I remember you walking out of the studio, out of the station, and I was like where’s Swanny gone?
“And we couldn’t even air the audio.”
Swan added: “No, it was terrible. It was a terrible, terrible situation and so unusual in my career to feel so attacked. It was terrible. Terrible.”
The pair also spoke on The Chrissie Swan Show about her awful experience with super group Duran Duran.
“That was an excruciating interview. And two of the members were really rude to me. I just left there feeling like nothing.
“I have met other idols like Lily Tomlin and Gina Davis and Debbie Harry and Sarah Jessica Parker. And they were all wonderful, but Duran Duran, they really belittled me and I just felt like a big loser.”
Charles also mentioned the Honey Badger Nick Cummins when he was The Bachelor.
“The worst, I didn’t even interview, was when I was producing Chrissie, Sam and Browny. We had the Honey Badger in. And he refused to take his air pods out to speak to one of our other producers. And as he walked through the hallways of the studio just would not speak to anyone, even his publicist, before going in with you guys.”
Swan added: “He was, I mean, you know, harking back to what I said earlier, people are going through things and you just don’t know what. And I remember that was a very bad time of his life and (he) didn’t want to do any publicity.”
