Chrissie Swan says her new radio job feels like a new lease of life.

After 20 years of doing breakfast she will start on Monday hosting her own national show, The Chrissie Swan Show, from 2-4pm on Nova.

“It feels like a reward for the 20 years of early mornings that I still get to do radio which I love and I get the time to sleep and it’ll be so much easier to get my eight hours in,” Swan said.

“I’m not much of an events person and I’m not ruling out a 6pm dinner and a movie. I haven’t done any of that. It’s a new lease of life.”

For the past seven years Swan worked alongside Jonathan Brown and Sam Pang on Chrissie, Sam and Browny.

The mum of three said the new show, alongside her former breakfast producer Jack Charles, would be fun and lighthearted.

“That 2-4 slot is everyone getting home from school thinking about what to cook for dinner, the crux of the day. We’re just going to have some fun,” she said.

“Working with Jack who I know so well, we’ll just have a laugh and a chat.

“I’m really excited to make my kids brekky and pack their bag, I’ve never done that. I guess I never thought I would and that I’ll do brekky radio for 100 years.

“I was first person to do the 3pm Pick Up. I’ve always loved that time and it feels very natural.”

Swan had a long break holidaying in Japan and the US before embarking on this “beautiful new beginning”.

She is set to celebrate the milestone birthday of turning 50 in November.

“I feel amazing,” she said. “I am a different person than I was 10 years ago and I will probably take myself overseas. I have never been to Europe, can you believe it? So I think I will have a little solo walking and eating trip to Italy probably, and I really want to see Berlin and I will just do it on my own.”

She added: “I have never been happier or more centred. It is actually great and I don’t think you can feel that way until you have done the years. I wouldn’t be 20 for quids.”
