Friends are remembering a “bubbly, kind hearted and genuine soul” after a motorcyclist died in hospital following an horrific crash on the Scenic Rim.

Oxenford man Nick Caputo, 20, died in hospital on Sunday after his motorbike and a horse float collided on Mundoolun Connection Road, Boyland about 5pm on Friday.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Mr Caputo worked at The Star in Broadbeach where he was an apprentice chef. It is understood he was about to finish his qualifications.

Thomas Rodrick took to Facebook on Sunday to remember his friend, who he said had been put on life support by the “amazing doctors” at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

“I don’t know how I’m going to cope without you man, you’re the most humble, genuine and loving bloke I ever met and was a blessing to have you in my life,” he wrote.

“Thank you Mel and Robert for raising your son the way you did, you should be very proud of the man he grew up to be.

“I love you Nick Caputo and I’ll never forget you. You’re forever my brother and I hope I’ll make you proud as you watch over me.”

Another friend and work colleague, Amber Heaton, wrote about how she was “heartbroken” to hear of his death.

“You were such a bubbly, kind hearted and genuine soul,” she wrote.

“The way you used to walk into any kitchen with the biggest smile on your face and bring so much happiness to a room shows how much everyone loved you.

“It was an honour to not only call you a work colleague but a friend as well.

“You have gone way too soon and will be deeply missed by all.”

Brittany King also expressed her condolences to Nick’s friends and family.

“He was a beautiful guy, full of love and laughter,” she wrote.

“My heart goes out to you and especially his family in this time.”

The Star Gold Coast general manager of food, beverage and events Richard Gush told the Bulletin: “We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragedy involving such a talented and passionate young chef.

“Nick was a genuine, kind-hearted team player and was well-respected by his peers and leaders.

“Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with his family and friends.”

The fatal incident comes in the same week as moped rider Nath Lehane died after he crashed into a parked car at Miami.

It has been a horror six months for bike riders on Gold Coast roads.

In November last year a motorcyclist died following a crash in Broadbeach where a Varsity Lakes man came off his bike on Bermuda Street.

Also in November, a 29-year-old Carrara man died when travelling westbound along Hope St, Nerang when his bike collided with a truck.

In December, Robina man CK died when a motorbike rider collided with a Toyota Corolla at the Napper Rd and Parkwood Blvd intersection in Parkwood.

A 31-year-old Pimpama man died in January after his bike crashed on the M1 at Oxenford.
