The man who tragically died in a Parkwood motorbike crash has been identified as a riding community identity as friends and family remember him as a “one of a kind”.
Gold Coast police were called to Napper Road at 6pm on Wednesday when a motorbike rider collided with a Toyota Corolla at the Parkwood Boulevard intersection.
The 42-year-old Robina man, known locally as CK, tragically died at the scene.
Paramedics said the 22-year-old woman driving the Toyota was not physically injured.
CK was widely known in the motorcycling community as the founder of a social riders group called FOUR-TWO.
The group with 2800 members was made in 2017 “for motorcycle riders in the ‘42’ postcode area and our friends just south of the board”.
Rebecca Choo, a friend of CK, said she had known him for seven years and met through the biking community.
“CK made a huge impact by bringing the bike community together through a monthly event ‘Gold Coast Bike Night’,” she said.
“CK also took the time to help anyone that needed it from beginners to riders looking to improve their riding.”
Many members of the community shared their disbelief and heartbreak over the news of his passing.
“He will be very missed by the community,” Angela Tomkins said.
“He was a man who would always open his heart to the community and went beyond for others every time,” she said.
“He will always be in our thoughts and the good memories he created out of his dedication and passion for the motorcycle community.
“Ride free mate.”
Si Martin said he couldn’t believe the news was true.
“You were one of a kind mate,” he said.
“You had the biggest open heart.”
The police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
