The family of a Miami moped crash victim, who leaves behind a young daughter, have made arrangements to bring their beloved son and brother back home to be laid to rest.
Nathan Lehane, also known as “Nath” and “Nathy”, died after crashing into a parked car on Marine Pde, Miami about 4.40am last Monday.
His heartbroken sister Jessica Lehane revealed the 33-year-old has a young daughter named Kyrah.
“Nathan adored his beautiful daughter Kyrah. She was the light of his life,” Ms Lehane said.
“He will be dearly missed by anyone who ever had the chance to meet him.
“His smile was contagious and would light up a room.
“Nathy was our pride and joy.”
Nathan grew up in the NSW mid north coast town of Forster where he spent his childhood mostly outdoors.
“He enjoyed everything this town had to offer - swimming, boating in the pristine Wallis Lake, surfing and dirt bikes,” Ms Lehane said.
Her brother relocated to Queensland about five years ago.
“Nathan was a beautiful soul who cared deeply for everyone,” Ms Lehane said.
“He loved making people laugh, singing at the top of his lungs and was a true prankster.
“He was a beautiful father, an adoring son and brother and much loved by many people around Australia.”
Nathan was the only son of Chrissy and Jeff Lehane.
News of his death has left family and friends shocked and devastated, with tributes flooding Nathan’s Facebook page.
“You were my brother, my best mate - you’ve been there for me when no one else has,” Maddy Monique wrote on social media.
“So sorry you had this happen to you.
“Forever in my heart, love you mushy.”
The forensic crash unit is continuing to investigate last week’s incident.
A local resident interviewed at the crash scene described it as a “tragic” reminder of how short life could be.
“I wonder if he was on his way to work or going to the gym or coming back home from a party?” he said.
“It’s just sad, life can be taken so quickly.”
