A billionaire media mogul, theme parks veteran, Gold Coast Titans legend, soap opera starlet and tennis star were among the buyers of multimillion-dollar properties that settled in November.
Among the top sales was the settlement of 7354 Marine Dr East – the highest-priced property to ever sell at Sanctuary Cove.
The opulent five-bedroom, 11-bathroom waterfront home with parking for 20 cars went for $17.7m, $12m more than the previous best, with the sale to Gold Coast business tycoon Tony Quinn settling on November 23.
The home was previously owned by Terence Johnson and Nicola Dunne through company Johnson Property Holdings, which acquired the property in 2019 for $3.9m.
Also selling up in the Coast’s boom was Ryan Stokes, managing director and CEO of Seven Group Holdings and son of billionaire Kerry Stokes.
Mr Stokes sold an apartment in Main Beach’s Silverpoint tower for $2.5m to Melbourne lawyer Simon Feingold.
The sale followed Mr Stokes’ $4.625 million purchase in June of 39 Jefferson Lane, a tri-level, four-bedroom, four-bathroom pad perched on the dunes with sweeping views out to sea and up the coast from an 11.9m frontage.
Mr Stokes had bought number 41 next door for $3.375 million in 2016 and lodged plans in July to build a nine-storey, high-end tower on the double block.
Another businessman collecting Gold Coast properties is Graham Burke, who spent three decades at the helm of Movie World and Sea World owner Village Roadshow.
Mr Burke paid $4.125m for a sprawling 2.27ha home at Clagiraba Rd, Mount Nathan, which he bought from Carmen Jackson.
Earlier this year, Mr Burke paid $2.675m for a 3ha property in Bonogin’s Aylesham Drive.
Also in November, a Burleigh property labelled the most photographed home in Queensland settled for $4.305m to retired tennis star Lleyton Hewitt and wife Bec.
The seller of the 13 Deodar Drive home, Jeremy Langston, bought it for $3.75 million at auction in May and listed it at $4.3 million on September 23.
Long-time Gold Coast property player and Gold Coast Titans part-owner Darryl Kelly was a seller in November, settling with wife Joanne on the $8.075m sale of their home at 14 Admiralty Dr, Paradise Waters, to buyer Kerry Hampton on November 16.
The Admiralty Drive home, built overlooking the Nerang River in 2003, cost Darryl and wife Joanne $7.7m.
Another Kelly – understood not to be related to Darryl and Joane – took a shine to exclusive Paradise Waters in November, with a company directed by “celebrity accountant” Brett Kelly buying in Viking Ct.
The $3.95m sale settled from vendors Debbie and Robert Asmussen on November 12.
Inland on the Carrara flood plain, Debbie Lancaster paid $5.28m for a five-bedroom riverfront French chateau-inspired estate at 5001 Emerald Island Dr.
Sellers Phillip and Tracey Gale settled the sale of the five bedroom, six-bathroom, eight-car home with putting green on November 26.
One of the biggest sales of the month was for a vacant double block of land at 15-19 Parklane Tce on the Sovereign Islands.
Vendor and Sovereign Islands local Bina Stevenson picked up $10m from the settlement of the 3143 sqm east-facing site to Andrew Kent and Suellen Osborne.
Another vacant block topping the sales last month was the $5.06m settlement of 176 Marina Quays Bvd, Hope Island, which settled to a company directed by Joe Gorski.
Mr Gorski, founder of a successful office supplies business, has a swath of commercial properties in Southport, including office block, Kaybank Plaza.
The seller of the 7590 sqm block with 51m water frontage was a company directed by Lynette and Darryl Goode.
Back down in Palm Beach, sales continued to soar, with an apartment at number 15 settled for $5.05m, with developers Developers Kazumi Nakagawa and Jason Kennedy settling to a company directed by Victorians Vicki and Steven Smith – not the Australian cricket captain.
Other $4m-plus November settlements included:
52 Boomerang Cres, Bundall, $5.075m
25 Breaker St, Main Beach (apartment) $4.67m
12 Royal Albert Cres, Paradise Point, $4.81m
