Gold Coast real estate: Lleyton and Bec Hewitt named as buyers of Burleigh’s The Palms home

A retired tennis star and his wife have been suggested as the buyers of a Gold Coast property labelled Queensland’s most photographed home.

A BURLEIGH property labelled the most photographed home in Queensland has sold for $4.305 million in rapid time, with retired tennis star Lleyton Hewitt and wife Bec mooted as the buyers.

The sale of The Palms was via virtual inspections, with the Melbourne buyers never setting foot in the home.

The seller of the 13 Deodar Drive home, Jeremy Langston, bought it for $3.75 million at auction in May and listed it at $4.3 million on September 23.

Agents involved in the latest sale yesterday would not comment on the identities of the new buyers.

Kingfisher Realty’s Conal Martin said the property, listed late last month, sold in quick time after several virtual tours.

“There’s still a lot of interest but it’s all too late.”

Ed Cherry, of Harcourts Coastal, said five contracts were put forward, four of them by Melbourne families.

He said the winning contract was a short settlement one.

The $4.305 million sale is a record for a Burleigh home west of the Gold Coast Highway.

The award-winning four-bedroom house was a hit on social media when it was listed in May and the auction saw more than 600 people pour into Deodar Drive.

The Hewitts, who have three children, earlier this year spent $12.7 million on a new Georgian-style home in elite Melbourne suburb Toorak.

The couple in 2019 sold a penthouse in the Sunland Group’s Yve tower in Melbourne’s St Kilda Rd for $8.175 million – six years earlier they had listed it at more than $15 million.

Lleyton was the world No. 1 tennis player in 2001 and won US Open and Wimbledon singles titles.
