Gold Coast crime: Police charge four people, including 14-year-old boy, after alleged pursuit of stolen car overnight

A boy, aged just 14, has been charged alongside a trio of adults after the group allegedly fled police in a stolen car before being brought to a halt with stinger road spikes.

Queensland Police spotted the vehicle at Cayuga St, Nerang about 11pm on Sunday and it subsequently evaded officers, a statement read.

It’s alleged a stinger tyre deflation device was used on Hope Island Rd just after midnight and it brought the vehicle to a stop on Abrahams Rd at Coomera.

Police believe the vehicle was taken from a Yeronga address in Brisbane about 4am on Sunday.

A 14-year-old Southport boy has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possess dangerous drugs, enter premises and commit indictable offence and enter premises with intent.

The teen was expected to face Southport Children’s Court on Wednesday.

Police charged a 22-year-old Russell Island woman with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possess dangerous drugs.

She was expected to appear in Southport Magistrates court on June 1.

Police also charged a 26-year-old Caboolture woman with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property, possessing dangerous drugs and possess drug utensil.

No court date was provided for the 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old Biggera Waters man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evade police, unlicensed driving and fraud and was expected to face Southport Magistrates Court later on Monday.

Police were continuing to investigate on Monday morning.

Ute ends up on roof after chaotic Coast rollover

May 14: A MAN has been taken to hospital after a dramatic ute rollover on the Gold Coast, which saw the contents of the vehicle strewn far and wide.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics were called to the intersection of Oxenford Southport Rd and Santa Barbara Rd, Hope Island just after 8.20pm on Thursday.

They checked over the driver of the ute, who was suffering neck pain.

It appeared the man aged in his 30s dodged serious injuries, despite the chaotic nature of the crash.

A photo was posted to the Hope Island News & Crime and Community Facebook page illustrating the scene of the rollover and the ute’s number plate was edited out.

Paramedics took the man to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, the ambulance service stated.

On Friday morning, Gold Coast police were investigating how the crash occurred, a spokeswoman confirmed.

Little more than two hours before the rollover, paramedics were called to treat a “male patient’ after a vehicle and bicycle collision at the intersection of Christine Ave and Lemana Lane at Miami.

The bike rider was treated for leg and neck injuries after the crash about 6.05pm and he was taken to Robina Hospital in a stable condition.

Car bursts into flames by side of M1 on Coast

May 6: An electrical fault has caused a car to burst into flames on the side of the Pacific Motorway (M1) on the Gold Coast overnight, destroying the vehicle.

It comes after a string of sudden and widely publicised vehicle fires across the country involving vehicles ranging from Holdens to Hyundais.

Five recalls have been issued in recent days for Peugeot, Scania, Jaguar, Land Rovers and Mercedes Benz vehicles.

Motorists should check Product Safety Australia online for a list of vehicle recalls nationwide.

The Bulletin has reported on a raft of vehicle fires in recent times, though some have been linked to thieves stealing and torching vehicles, rather than faults.

CAR EXPLODES IN FLAMES ON M1

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) firefighters attended the latest car fire on the M1 northbound at Upper Coomera about 10.50pm on Wednesday night.

The car was “engulfed in flames” and firefighters spent about half an hour tackling the blaze, extinguishing the fire by about 11.10pm, a QFES spokesman said.

The fire began under the bonnet of the car and Gold Coast police confirmed the car on the M1 was destroyed in an electrical fire.

Officers attended, but no further action was needed, a Queensland Police spokeswoman said.

Family escape Gold Coast house fire

May 2: A family has escaped a house fire on the Gold Coast in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The blaze broke out in the Upper Coomera home just before 3.30am.

Emergency services responded to the scene on Barrington Street and fire crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

Paramedics were on standby, but no one required treatment.

It comes after emergency crews put out a boat fire in a Gold Coast canal on Saturday.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to Tequila Court at Mermaid Waters about 4.30pm.
