WHS issues prohibition notices to immediately halt work if it’s believed an activity at a workplace involves a serious risk to health or safety.

“A prohibition notice may include directions to stop the activity or to change the way the activity is done, to prevent illness or injury,” it’s stated.

A WHS spokeswoman said three of the notices had been issued to the contractor at the Broadbeach Waters site “for obstructing the road, site access and lifting adjacent to a road”.

“A prohibition notice was also issued to the crane hire company to cease using the crane until it has been inspected,” she said.

The driver was lucky to escape with minor injuries, Queensland Ambulance stated.

She was taken to Robina Hospital in a stable condition as a precaution.
