Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Gold Coast service station on Wednesday night.

The incident at the Southport station occurred just before 9pm.

Police said a man armed with a knife entered the Smith St business making demands for money and tobacco.

A 22-year-old male store attendant handed over a quantity of cash, tobacco and food items to the robber, who then fled the scene.

It’s not clear if the attendant was injured and the total price of the stolen goods.

Investigations are ongoing.

Truck rolls onto median strip at Coast roundabout

June 23, 2021

A TRUCK has tipped over onto a median strip while navigating a roundabout on the Gold Coast this morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Activa Way and Oxenford Southport Rd at Hope Island about 7.20am.

The truck rollover did not block any lanes, but an unknown fluid had been spilt on the road, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) spokeswoman said.

There was no update on what the fluid may have been.

QFES personnel helped move the truck from the median strip and made the area safe before leaving about 7.40am.

Motorists were advised to be cautious while travelling in the area.
