Developers behind the Rouse Hill Town Centre have submitted $100 million expansion plans featuring dozens of new shops and a commercial building for the burgeoning northwest Sydney suburb.
GPT revealed plans for a 15,907sq m retail and commercial space behind the existing shopping centre in a development application to the Hills Shire Council and NSW Planning Department last week.
The application proposed the addition of 50 new specialty shops, a leisure and entertainment space, a three-storey commercial centre, pavilion shopfront, and four mini major stores as part of stage two expansion.
A GPT development application argued the new ‘green concept’ for the Town Centre would “provide a point of difference which increases centre activity and destinational appeal”.
“The expansion provides a circular path connecting the existing Target and Big W,” the application said.
The application said Main St would act as a mid point to the entire centre, with food retailers to the south, clothing shops to the north and mini-major shops at the centre of the expanded centre.

“Stage two enhances and expands the specialty retail offer available at Rouse Hill Town Centre,” the application said.
“The offer seeks to introduce higher order apparel and fashion retail not currently available in the centre today.
“This will enhance the experience for customers and visitors and help shift Rouse Hill Town Centre from an asset that provides for the everyday to an asset that can provide a full day out.”
The report said the leisure and entertainment centre and an increased demand for a commercial spaces at the Town Centre comes as the completion of Rouse Hill Metro station draws closer.
The bid for a retail and commercial expansion at the shopping centre comes after GPT Group announced a $35 million plan for a new residential community in August.
The developers proposed plans for a landmark residential precinct just metres from the shopping centre and Sydney Metro northwest station including an 11-storey residential tower to include 141 units on the corner of Caddies Blvd and Rouse Hill Drive.
The development application is currently being assessed by council officers before it is determined by the NSW Planning Department’s Central City Planning Panel in 2019.
