A veteran Sydney greyhound trainer – who has had a squeaky clean record for three decades – and her dog have been disqualified from racing after the animal tested positive for banned substances.
Suzette Lee Turner, from Sydney and formerly South Grafton, and her dog – Mr Informant – are banned from greyhound racing for 12 months after tests revealed signs of banned substances in the dog’s urine.
After Mr Informant competed in Race 8 at the Richmond meeting on February 21, a urine sample was taken and prohibited substances namely GW1516 and GW1516 Sulphoxide were found.
Both substances are permanently banned under Greyhound Racing Rules.
Sport Integrity Australia describes GW1516, Cardarine, as having benefits “of an endurance aid”.
It describes the drug as “popular, but deadly”.
Turner, a registered public trainer, pleaded guilty during a hearing by the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission (GWIC) on June 17.
In determining the disciplinary action against Turner, the GWIC took into account her early plea of guilty and her 30-year registration record with no prior prohibited substance offences.
They issued a 12 month disqualification commencing on July 11 2025 and expiring July 11 2026.
