A GRAND future for Oran Park’s CBD has been revealed with a $160 million development proposed for one of NSW’s fastest-growing suburbs.
Features include a landmark 12-storey apartment building which would mark the centre of Oran Park, an extension of the Oran Park Podium shopping centre and additional multistorey residential and commercial buildings.
Greenfields Development Company director Mick Owens, who lodged the plans with Camden Council on October 11, said the proposal would deliver a vibrant, lively and active space for the growing community.
“I think it’s a really exciting part of the town centre,” Mr Owens said.
“It will have a larger amount of retail space, more commercial space as well as residential apartments, so it incorporates all three aspects.”
THE STORY SO FAR:
— A SIX-STOREY COMMERCIAL BUILDING: “Oran Park is set to be the commercial hub of the region”
- RESIDENTIAL APARTMENTS: “It’s all part of the town evolving”
- SMART WORK HUB: Hub takes flight
- ORAN PARK PODIUM: “It’s honestly like nothing you would have ever seen”
Oran Park Podium, which opened in 2014, would undergo its stage two extension, more than doubling the current number of shops.
Foodies also will welcome the extension of Oran Park’s Eat Street, which will deliver at least six alfresco dining options alongside Oran Park’s Town Park.
More than 50 new specialty shops, including a major discount department store and market-style food court, would be included in the shopping centre extension.
With the proposal to bolster the connection between Oran Park Library, Town Park and the shopping centre, Mr Owens said it would raise the liveability and appeal of Oran Park’s CBD.
“We believe this project will make Oran Park Town more vibrant and continue with the realisation of Oran Park’s town centre,” he said. “It’s about having an experience where you can go shopping, meet people in the park, walk over to the library — we are bringing everything together.”
The 12-storey, landmark apartment building will overlook Town Park.
Mr Owens told the Chronicle it would be a visually appealing landmark.
A 5000sq m office building, featuring four levels of commercial space, and a six-storey residential apartment block are also part of the proposed development.
Pending approvals, it is hoped construction would begin at the end of 2019 with completion during 2021.
