The eagerly anticipated Oran Park Podium will open its doors on Thursday at 8am. The complex has 20 of its 27 shops ready for business before the official opening next month.
Sweet4U Patisserie owner William Gov was excited about opening day and meeting his customers.
“It was three years ago that I first heard about the mall opening up in Oran Park and I just immediately thought: ‘Wow, what a great opportunity’,” Mr Gov said.
“Three years on, it’s so exciting that we’re finally opening.”
Hennings Jewellers is expanding its business with a new store in the centre.
“We’re going to really focus on Pandora and Swarovski as well as loads of great watch brands,” owner Craig Moore said.
“We have two stores, at Macarthur Square and Narellan Town Centre, so this is a great opportunity for us to expand with the Macarthur district.”
Oran Park Podium centre manager Damien Turski said he could not wait for shoppers to walk through those doors.
“I’m incredibly excited that we’re opening this up four weeks before our official opening,” he said. “We thought it was really important that residents have a chance to come by and check it out as soon as possible.
“The mall is very impressive. It’s honestly like nothing you would have ever seen. I think it will speak for itself when people see it on Thursday.
“The people of Oran Park are very lucky to have a centre of this quality open up in their suburb.”
PIZZA fans will be in paradise — customers can order a pizza in the Oran Park Podium’s Woolworths and pick it up when they finish their shopping.
The store, one of the biggest Woolworths in NSW, will also feature a sushi counter and a “goodness to go” section, which will allow shoppers to mix grains and berries themselves.
Store manager Greg Hamilton said he was most excited about the customised pizza section.
“Customers are going to be able to order their own kind of topping and have it made for them while they shop,” he said. “The store’s opening is really exciting.”
Mall centre manager Damien Turski said the Woolies was the main attraction.
“Without a doubt, the thing I’m most excited about is being able to offer the Woolworths store to our customers,” he said.
“It looks extraordinary and there’s so much in the store to offer customers.”
The store is a whopping 4886 sq m and will employ 130 people.
“We’re proud that the opening of the new Woolworths sees us welcoming so many new people to the company from the Oran Park area,” Mr Hamilton said.
Nineteen checkouts will be available for shoppers including traditional, express and self-serve checkouts.
