Cuts already confirmed by government
Queensland Business Commissioner:
Queensland Business Commissioner Blair Davies was dumped in late June, Small Business Minister Jann Stuckey’s office confirmed. The government argued the move would avoid duplication, saying the red tape reduction role would be absorbed by the new Office of Business Best Practice Regulation within the Queensland Competition Authority.
Rumoured cuts
35 per cent tourism budget cut:
Date: July 25
Information: Claims the government is considering a 35 per cent cut to the Tourism Queensland budget, from $51.5 million to $32 million, which would lead to job losses.

Put to minister’s office: July 25
Response: A spokeswoman for Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey said on July 25 the budget was “yet to be finalised and any talks of funding cuts at this stage are premature”. A written statement said any restructuring decisions had not yet been made and would be a matter for incoming Tourism Queensland chairman Stephen Gregg, the board and the Minister in the future.
