Property prices are up 20pc in New Zealand

Wellington | New Zealand Reserve Bank governor Adrian Orr has responded to a government plea that he pay mind to rocketing house prices by saying he is likely to give "open and frank" advice on tax changes it could use to cool the housing affordability crisis.

In a highly unorthodox intervention on Tuesday, the New Zealand government asked the central bank to consider factoring house prices as part of its monetary policy remit.
