Portable leave raises fears of ‘fourth wave’ of workplace rule changes

The Albanese government is preparing to develop portable entitlements for insecure workers in the coming weeks, raising the prospect of a fourth round of workplace reforms this year and employer levies to fund them.

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations will start consulting unions and employer groups from next month over industry-specific entitlements that could allow workers to carry over annual, sick or long service leave from one job to another.
